Free Virtual Ballet Master Classes with Iva Vitić Gameiro
Iva Vitić Gameiro – Principal Dancer of the Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb – will hold FREE virtual master classes, open to all students of Downland Dance. One class for juniors and another for seniors, this is a great opportunity to learn from a ‘real life ballerina’!
ABOUT IVA
Iva Vitić Gameiro was born in Zagreb in November 1987. She studied ballet at the Zagreb High School for Classical Ballet, before graduating from the Tanz Akademie in Zurich in 2006. That same year, Iva joined the Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb as a member of the ballet ensemble. In 2009, Iva left Zagreb to work with the Portuguese National Ballet, before returning to Zagreb in 2011 where she rose through the ranks to become a Principal Dancer. Iva has danced an array of well known leading roles in both classical ballet and contemporary dance, including Juliet in Romeo and Juliet (Patrice Bart), The Sugar Plum Fairy in The Nutcracker (Derek Deane, Vladimir Malakhov), Giselle in Giselle (Iraida Lukasova after Marius Petipa), Wendy in Peter Pan (Giorgio Madia) and many others. She continues to dance at the Croatian National Theatre, and makes guest appearances for ballet companies and galas around the world.
Jubal Battisti Ballet & Contemporary Workshops
A Graduate of the prestigious Juilliard School (New York), Jubal has performed for dance companies across the United States and Europe. Now an accomplished classical and contemporary dance performer, Jubal has gone on to assist choreographically with some of the dance industries leading names.
As the next one in our series of professional standard masterclasses, on Sunday 28th April 2019, Downland Dance is excited to be welcoming Jubal Battisti for a day of exceptional masterclasses in both classical ballet and contemporary dance styles.
All classes are open to anyone aged 14+ (exceptions can be made for very talented young students and adults are very welcome) , and have been tailored to suit all abilities.

Jubal Battisti is a professional freelance ballet and contemporary dancer, based in Berlin. Born in the USA, Jubal began his training at Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre School, before graduating from the prestigious Juilliard School in New York with a BFA and Scholastic Distinction. As a dancer he has performed for companies across the United States and Europe, including the Cedar Lake Contemporary Ballet Company, and GoteborgsOperans Danskompani in Sweden. He has worked, both as a dancer and as an assistant choreographer with some of the dance industries leading names, including Didy Veldman, Hofesh Shechter and Jiri Bubenicek. With a solid classical ballet background, and extensive experience on the contemporary dance circuit, Jubal has developed a beautifully fluid movement and an excellent sense of musicality. He has a wealth of knowledge to offer dance students of both classical and contemporary ballet, and Downland Dance is extremely privileged to be welcoming him.

- Mixed Ability Ballet: 9.00am – 10.30am
- Mixed Ability Contemporary: 10.45am – 12.15pm

Jazz Workshops with Courtney Jackson
Courtney works as a dancer and choreographer in theatres in the UK and around the world. He has created productions of well known works such as Singin’ in the Rain, My Fair Lady, and Cinderella. His lively, fun and modern approach to teaching was a big hit with our students!
Downland Dance are delighted to announce that Courtney Jackson will be joining us on Sunday 8th April 2018, to deliver jazz workshops for students of any ability (even complete beginners) to anyone aged 6+ – yes, there is a group just for adults, too!
The classes will be held at Downland Dance’s new Didcot home, The Aureus School, Candytuft Way, Harwell, Didcot, OX11 6FF.
Who is Courtney?
Courtney is a professional dancer and choreographer. He trained in Dance and Musical Theatre at Stella Mann College of Performing Arts. Since graduating, Courtney has worked on the professional circuit, as both a performer and choreographer. His career has taken him all over the world.
Now based in Bristol, Courtney spends most of his time teaching and choreographing for local schools and colleges. He specialises in Tap, Jazz and Musical Theatre.
Courtney’s most recent works include choreographing Singin’ In The Rain (The Big Act – Bristol Hippodrome), My Fair Lady (BLOC Productions – Bristol Hippodrome) and Anything Goes (Monkton Combe School, Bath).
The Christmas season saw Courtney return to the stage to appear in Snow White at The NE6 Suite in Newcastle, before returning to Bristol where he produced a sell-out production of Cinderella.
Courtney’s classes are ideal for anybody who has a passion for dance or music, and his lively, fun and modern approach to teaching dance is inspirational!
Groupings for the day:
To ensure that everyone gets the very best from Courtney’s classes, the groups are focused more on ability than age. You should select the class that you feel best suits your ability.
There will be three groups, at the following times.
Juniors (Ages 6 – 17)
9.30 – 10.15: Beginners
10.15 – 11.15: Intermediate/Advanced
Adults (Ages 18+)
11.15 – 12.30: Mixed Ability.
