Dance is known to benefit the development of children’s motor skills, spacial awareness, musicality and coordination. In our early years classes, for children aged between 18 months and 7 years, we begin by teaching children about the joy of movement, and we appeal to their strong sense of imagination by creating little stories that they call tell through the use of movement and props. The movements children learn in these classes set them up to more easily understand and execute the classical ballet steps that they will learn later on.
Our Mini Dancers are encouraged to express themselves through the joy of movement, but we also teach them the importance of good discipline from an early age.
At Downland Dance, we encourage our students to be good people, as well as good dancers!
