Dance, bond, have fun… together!
Tiny Tippy Toes is a fun dance class where toddlers aged 18 to 36 months take their first dancing steps with a family member as their dancing partner! The family member can be anyone over the age of 18 who the child is comfortable with (mum, dad, grandma, grandad, uncle, auntie, or other), and no previous dance experience is necessary. This class is intended to be a fun and engaging way for you to bond with your child, whilst you both learn a new skill!
Tiny Tippy Toes takes place every Monday morning, from 10.30am – 11.00am, in our Abingdon West Wing Studio (Coxeter House, OX14 3RG). The first class is free!
During Tiny Tippy Toes classes, toddlers are invited to play with props, as they develop a sense of creativity, musicality, and movement. Different activities include creating make-believe fireworks out of scarfs, marching between stepping stones, and discovering movement through our play tunnel. Toddlers are encouraged to explore the studio space, familiarising themselves with it becoming a safe space where they can let their creativity flow! Children in Tiny Tippy Toes classes learn how to dance and play together respectfully, whilst the family members can socialise and share experiences with others in a similar stage of parenthood. There are no strict discipline expectations in Tiny Tippy Toes classes. We encourage children to explore the joy of movement and dance, using a mixture of both classical and children’s music to help them discover a sense of rhythm and balance.
Dance is considered to have long-term benefits to children’s physical and mental health. These benefits include:
- Developing coordination, balance, agility, and motor skills,
- Building the muscles to support healthy posture,
- Utilising imagination and developing creativity through story telling,
- Increased concentration and problem solving skills,
- Improved sense of self-confidence,
- Learning how to participate in teamwork,
- Developing a sense of musicality and spacial awareness,
- Understanding verbal and non-verbal communication of ideas and feelings.
Tiny Tippy Toes is available on a PAYG basis for £6.50 per session, or as a monthly subscription for £21 per month. The first class is always free, with no obligation to sign up afterwards.
